Rating:  - DON'T BOTHER - SEE MY REVIEW OF 3590H - SAME PROBLEMS AND THEN SOME
I bought this machine on 01.11.08, it was delivered on 04.11.08 and is going back asap at less than a week old - as instructed by Philips. Please see my review of the Philips DVDR3590H/05 (which was also bought on 01.11.08)for more information on the problems. In addition to suffering from all of the problems I found with the 3590H like the chopping out bits and pieces of tv recordings willy nilly, at the rate of a few seconds every 5 minutes or so, making all recordings incomplete, the freeview ... Rating:  - A bit of a mixture...
A bit of a mixture, this one. On balance, probably avoid, especially if you're impatient...
The good points:
- Big, big disk capacity.
- Built-in DTV tuner. Built in Guide+ TV Guide (but see below).
- HD upscaling. The picture and sound quality from DVDs is just superb, especially through HDMI.
- Looks smart. I particularly The red and blue rings around record and play buttons.
- HDMI output.

Rating: - Great spec...almost impossible to use
This item has some great features but is let down by it's very unintuitive operating menu.
Simple things such as playing a multi region DVD are not possible, the system appears to conflict with a number of features ( requiring it to be reset at the plug)and it took 3 days for the system to recognise TV Guide listings.
Not for me....
Rating:  - A great DVD Recorder
I now own two of these DVD recorders and think they are excellent.
They have Digital and Analogue Recorders with Philips Guide+ electronic program guide
Best features for me:
