Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - High on Beauty, Low on Plot
This is one of those movies whose obscurity doesn't surprise me. This is a well-executed, beautifully-crafted movie, but its plot and pace never amount to what it promises.

This is the story of the upcoming King Arthur, more specifically when he is a little boy, employed as dishwasher for the local earl, whose pig-brained bully of a son is set to become the next king if no one can remove the sword Excalibur from its rock. Arthur's future looks bleak until eccentric wizard Merlin, along ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great DVD!
I remember watching this film as a child but my boyfriend had never seen it, therefore I decided to buy it to show him. In particular the character of Archimedes the Owl (who is hysterical!). Great film and it came in very good condition. I would highly recommend it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A lacklustre family entry
If the adult audience in particular are very honest with themselves (which is difficult - particularly in front of kids!), then we should admit that this certainly isn't one of the studios classics by any mile.

As pointed out by an earlier review, the film is just too distant from its original Arthurian source to make it an original experience, like those before and after it. Normally, the studio had a tendency to make old stories 'their own' and did so beautifully with films like Pinocchio. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great for preschoolers
I'll keep this brief as there are loads of reviews on the DVD.
But having recently watched this with our son (just 4yr) I have to say it is a real must for anyone with younger children. the salpstick style story telling sequences really capture that young sense of humour. Our son loved it (he is knights , swords and merlin mad) but not just for the main story (which personally I find a bit bity and doesn't flow) but for the comic sequences and silly jokes. This is definately one they will watch over ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of the best
Sword In The Stone was one of my favourite Disney films as a child, and once I became aware that this was on DVD, I snapped it up.
A truly magical adventure, kids will love it, and it also educates them.

An absolute classic that can be watched by the whole family, over and over again.
