I've only used it a little so far, but I just had to share this: contrary to some reports, this is not a multi-region player.
At least it remembers how far it played a disc!
... Update: it turns out my local hi-fi center can do it for a tenner, so that helps.
Rating:  - Some gripes
I have just bought this product based on the four 5/5 reviews, but couple of comments. Mine didn't come multi -region. It says region 2 on the box and on the back of the equipment, so I have to assume it isn't multiregion. Does anyone know how to open up it. Have seen instructions for other Sony DVD players, but not this one and I didn't think I'd need to do anything based on the comment from Graeme.

Rating:  - Plays discs my old DVD player couldnt cope with
Ability to resume play where you left off discs for the last 6 disks is very, very useful.
It plays commercial DVDs that despite being brand new must have had slight flaws my 2 previous DVD machines couldnt cope with. Very impressive!
Even on my bog standard 6 year old CRT TV the picture does look a bit better and the sound seems better too on new disks with Dolby Surround sound.
All in all I've very pleased with this machine.

Sony DVPNS708 DVD Player with 1080 Up-scaling - Black As I have nearly a thousand DVDs I have been looking for an upscaled DVD player. This little beauty does a great job. Easy to set up and came multi region though that wasn't made clear. Gives a great near HD picture and good sound. Lightweight but well made and good Bravia sync so the remote is easy to use with my TV. i already owned a Sony DVP-NS76 which worked fantastic, i wanted to get a player that would play 1080p, even tho my tv is a 720p toshiba (its better to push a 1080p signal into a 720p tv and let the tv downscale it, if the tv accepts 1080p) with my other sony player i was sending a 1080i signal.
