Purchased my HTSS1100 recently from sony shop, bit more expensive than online but they did do a deal and will price match if other suppliers are showing item in stock. The slight extra cost was worth it so i could get home and set up without the wait.
Easy set up with HDMI and optical leads giving good picture and sound, am running xbox, virgin v box and new sony dvp-ns78 upscaling dvd player on 32 inch hd ready sony.

These things are hard to get hold of. No sooner than they appear in stock, then they sell out again. I did eventually get mine from Amazon, but now I see they are out of stock yet again. So why is that?
Well simply speaking this system is one great piece of kit. I'm no audiophile at all, but even I can tell what an amazing difference it makes having one of these. At a very reasonable price too.

This is a great price from Amazon for a great piece of kit. Ive recently installed this system at home on a 42inch screen, with Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and dvd player, its got that many connections! even the fm radio sounds amazing.
The clarity is excellent, the setup is simple (it can do it automatic for you) and there is enough speaker cable for a good sized room. The remote has all the functions you could ever need and you can easily switch between different components.

Rating: - Confusing links for devices
Bought the Sony 1100 just before Xmas with view to connecting to SKY HD box and Panasonic DVD recorder which upgrades DVD's via HDMI cable direct to TV.
Currently HD box and DVD recorder are linked to TV via HDMI cables taking up both of the two available inputs on the Panasonic Plasma TV.
On advice from retailer (JLP) connected DVD recorder and SKY HD to the 1100 system via a Digital Optical cable - to the SKY input and the Video 2 input ( which are the only two digital cable inputs)

I just got this system for Christmas, and I am blown away with the sound I am hearing.
I have connected to my Toshiba 32" LCD and Sony PS3 (amazing Blu Ray!) via an Ixos optical cable for 5.1 digital audio and 2 x QED HDMI cables (1 in-1 out)
Easy set up out of the box with the auto calibration mic, and thats that!
Tested the whole system by watching "Black Hawk Down" on Blu Ray, and was gobsmacked by the picture and sound quality, Try it for yourself you will not be disappointed.
