Rating:  - Cheap and cheerful
I purchased for under £50- and you do not expect a great deal for this amount.
I did find that my panasonic ram discs played on this machine which was the main reason I bought it, but the Samsung do not play on the panasonic. I too have tried timer recording onto ram disc and it wouldnt. does anyone know if this a fixable problem?
Rating:  - Very disappointing - don't bother.
Could not cope with dvd-ram discs (same problems as other reviewers). Progressive scan feature resulted in sound but no picture. Froze several times, I had to unplug it to re-set. It was cheap but I thought Samsung were fairly reputable and now I wish I hadn't bothered. Returned within a week for a refund.

Okay, it's pretty cheap and you probably get what you pay for. I bought this to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD. Although the set up is straightforward and the manual is clear as to what you can and can't do, this machine is fairly limited. My main problem is that many of the recordings lose audio-sync after 25 minutes or so. I have to resolve this by copying the DVDs to the hard disk of my Mac and then demuxing/remuxing. Rating: - Does not record +R/+RW formats
In this day and age you would expect all DVD players and recorders to at least play all formats. I had one of these machines for one day and returned it for a refund as it would not play any of my DVD +R discs.
In Argos and Tesco, they state that it is multiformat and does play/record +R/+RW format, but it does not.
Do not buy this machine.

I have had two examples of this recorder. The first one turned itself off at random when viewing a pre-recorded disc. It wouldn't record on ram disc using the timer. It would not format ram discs but kept coming up with 'System error is found', accompanied by a loud buzzing sound, after exactly 10% of the disc had been formatted. The machine locked up after this and had to be unplugged to reset it.
