Rating: - Great for the price
Note that you can open/close the tray by holding down STOP on the remote, as with previous Philips players.
As a straightforward no-frills machine, this is great at the price. I'm not expecting great reliability; I bought this to replace an older model that failed after about 5 years. I was going to get a different brand, but this one still looks better and in another 5 years, I'll probably want blu-ray.

I have a few DVDs that I could either not play or could only play in black and white and now I can play them all in colour! Your advice has been first class and very clear.
The player would not have been a 5 star without Kalpesh's tips.
I am delighted with it!
Rating:  - Just a little dissapointed
Having purchased the Philips because although l only wanted a reliable unit after always buying what l thought were good deals in used units, l put my first dvd in and made myself comfy to watch a good but some may say oldie (well l like them) only to have the experience a little clouded. The film kept freezing and although l removed the dvd and cleaned it with dvd fluid, it kept doing the same thing. Rating: - Good DVD player, lousy MP3 player
Great little player for the price, but one caveat: if you insert an MP3 CD or DVD containing multiple folders, it will only play the contents of one subfolder at a time before stopping; i.e. it won't simply "play all".
Rating: - nice little runner
this dvd player is great for someone who wants a no fuss basic one size fits all player. It is easy to turn to multi region, Kalpesh's insructions are spot on. picture quality is good, and it appears to play anything you care to throw at it. Its also reasonably fast loading, unlike some in this price range that take forever.
I bought this for my bedroom as i wasnt meithered about having an all singing all dancing player there, and its nice and neat.
Job done.
