Rating:  - SIMPLY TO USE. FEW POINTS FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW.
Firstly, this machine does not have a HARD DRIVE at all. Anyone who says it has has a different model number to this one. Regarding the only 2 hours recording thim this DVD has the facility to record EP which is 6hours play on DVD or 10hours on DLayer disc. Refer to pg 42 of manual and pg 23 for all settings. To operate these on the on creen display press the rec mode on the remote near 3 red record buttons on remote. It will show on screen when you repeatedly press rec mode on remote.

Rating: - Fool proof
Delivered free in 4 days the recorder was up & running in 30 minutes.Easy electronic programme guide recording.Forgot to check measurements.The Sony is a lot deeper than my old Panasonic.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago... worked fine during the first week. During week two, the freeview picture froze up occasionally, and didn't recover, the unit switched itself off instead! It started doing this several times, and then the final straw... it switched off whilst playing back a prerecorded dvd! It is now back with the suppliers, and I spent an extra 100 pound to get the Panasonic EMREX77EB instead, and am delighted with it! It has a 160gb hard drive, and my wife recorded her first ... Rating: - This is a DVD recorder! - there is no HDD
I wish people reviewing this item would check that they are referring to the stated product. I want to purchase one of these but 2 reviews are talking about the hard drive which this machine does not have.
Rating: - Don't put it in the bedroom
DVD and Freeview PQ is very good, however.......
the fan is intrusively noisy and operates all the time whether recording or not. It also continues for over 5 minutes after the unit is switched off.
Also, the player switches on in the middle of the night (3 - 4 am) to update the EPG, with the accompanying fan noise. This function cannot be switched off (unless you switch off the unit at the wall before going to sleep each evening).
