I had been looking for another DVD Recorder to upgrade from my existing Lite-On. I had looked at a number of models but i was looking at the time for a combi version but decided later that this was not the best route to take.
I have owned Lite-On products before and have had no problems with them, I had been surfing the net looking for a decent recorder which had a reasonable price tag attached and one mainly with a HD as standard. I found the LVW - 5055GDL+ and thought wow 250GB of Hard Drive. ... Read More

While it does play multi-region DVD and it does record, it doesn't do either very well. Most of the time our DVD's skip or the picture fades in and out; or it goes from color to black and white. Today the sound went out. I had to turn the DVD player power off and restart it to fix the problem. We've only owned the DVD player for about 9 months and we don't use it all that often.
I wouldn't waste my money on this product.

I have had one of these for about 10 months. It has had extensive use. I have recorded to hard disk, transfered from hard disk to DVD, transfered from (de CSS) disk to HDD and played all my (large) DivX and xVid collection without a single glitch. I may just be lucky, but I am inclined to think that this is a great product, and that I am using it properly.

I bought this back in Sept and was very pleased with it at first. However cracks started to appear when I began using it in earnest.
The first fault I found was a movie I recorded off Sky onto the HDD and later transfered to DVD. When playing back, at the most critical stage of the movie (it would have to be), the DVD locked up. It also caused a lockup when played on my PC. As I had deleted the recording off the HDD I could not determine if it was the DVD media or just a one-off glitch. ... Read More

Bought this in May and once I'd mastered the HDD it was a dream. Excellent quality and easy to use. However when I started copying from HDD to DVD it was useless. Nothing recorded properly. Neither was it any good recording directly from TV to DVD. Everything skipped and stopped. After 5 months the DVD player started going wrong. Wouldn't play most discs, flashed LOAD and then stopped.
