I bought this hoping that I would be able to copy all my daughter's videos and dvds so that we could take them on holiday and keep her occupied on days when we are travelling or hanging around.
However, I am disappointed that I cannot copy bought DVDs as they are protected, despite an earlier reviewer saying that the device ignores this aspect.

{NOTE:- 30 October 2007 Still going fine. Not sure why the other user is having a problem but I definately have been able to record bought DVD and Videos with protection onto my player without carrying out any special action. Maybe there has been an update to the operating system. What does your machine say when it refuses to record?

i bought 1 of these for myself and found it to be of excellant quality. the 40gb hard drive is plenty and the sound and picyure is of very good quality.
at 150 pounds its cheaper than the others on here so bought some for my family as well.

I bought this direct from the [...] site for £[...], about a week ago. It arrived on the day that the said it would.
I have tried most of the functionality and for the money I think I got an absolute bargin. It would be cheap even if it was just a pocket sized 40Gb external hard drive but you can record and playback video sources (including direct tv encoding. This isn't the easiest little gadget to use, and straight out of the box suffers serious problems with video (No problems with mp3s/pic/TV input) as on converted files using supplied software lipsync is lost with audio, and you get the occasional freeze, but download v1.2 of the firmware and this is a beauty: works as well as an archos but at 1/3rd of the price!
