Rating: - Does not do what it says on the tin!
I received my order today (5 July). After spending time reading the instructions and setting up the unit I tested the TV and video functions successfully. However when I tested the DVD unit the colours were defective (on 3 separate DVDs tried) e.g. the skin tones were blue and > on the Univeral Pictures globe logo the sea was red - I know we are going through global warming but this was ridiculous :-). I'm a fan of LG goods anyway, so I wasn't too worried about ordering this item. Easy to use, nice to look at and well worth the money. The remote does just about everything for you apart from choose the dvd or video you want to watch and put it in the machine for you! Highly recommended.
Rating: - High quality user friendly DVD player
The LG DVC8700 is a great first DVD Player: the sound and image quality are excellent, it practically installed itself (including automatically setting its clock from radio signal) and it's played every DVD we've put into it (UK and Australian discs so far). The DVD/VCR combo is surprisingly useful- esp for silmultaneous DVD viewing and TV recording. LG have also been endorsed by "The Good Shopping Guide"(Ethical Marketing Group)- a feature that really sets this DVD player apart from most of its competition.
