At first when purchased this player thought have struck gold. Nice cheap sony DVDplayer Multiregion aswell being sony thought would be quility. In fact was wrong I had problems with R1 aswell as other reviewers my problem was different I had an NTSC T.V with high quility scart cable on sky scenes or explosions(in film)T.V would flicker however when played on different DVDplayer same T.V would be fine. Rating:  - Multi-region playback not reliable
I did notice that my Region 1 discs were played back in black and white after I connected my DVD player to my TV (which is a new model and NTSC-enabled). I was able to rectify this by changing the Display settings to RGB. However, when I later connected the DVD player to my TV through a freeview box, Region 1 discs were back to black and white mode. Haven't been able to find a way out.

Needed a cheap but quality dvd player and got one for £50 - Plays all my dvds which my earlier one did not

This Dvd player is excellent value for money, so much so, that i am seriously concidering purchasing another one in the near future.
I love the fact that it is a multi regional dvd player, as i can now play my region 1 (USA) dvd's.
If any one out there is thinking of buying a reasonably priced multi regional dvd player, then this is the one for you, you will not be dissappointed.
Rating:  - Very easy to set up and use
Feels like a quality product. Lots of information/instructions, but most only needed for advanced stuff. Unpack, plug up, fit the (supplied!) batteries into the remote, navigate through 4 easy presses of the quick setup menu (leaving most options as default in my case) and you can start watching DVDs, or playing CDs.
