Rating: - Fair DivX player for the money
I owned this DVX-6600 for over a year, it cost me just over £40 on a special deal from an online retailer.
Originally I had no end of problems with it, lots of video that wouldn't play at all or would freeze up halfway through. After a firmware upgrade, however, it played about 90% of my video collection flawlessly. I found the video quality very respectable, and the sound was also fairly good through my home cinema sound system.
Unfortunately, for £40 I knew I wasn't going ... Read More
Rating: - Lousy Reliability
Well, I bought this DIVX compatible DVD player just over a year ago (always happens that way doesn't it?) with high expectations following good reviews on it. What a turkey. It is treated with the utmost of respect (more than my girlfriend -sorry about that) and rests in a cabinet. It has now stopped recognising any DVD put into it. Zero. No cleaning has helped, nothing. Good waset of £70. It looks like some more reviews of Yamada turkeys are now emerging. Listen to them. Don't go near this brand!
Rating: - Poor
Every thing about this feels cheap and it is..
Poor Picture and sound on mp3 sound..
it plays divx/xvid but will a lot of microblocking. same with dvd.. also some times it locks up half way in to a film.. Most DivX 3.11 dont play back at all and 50% of xvid/divx slow down and speed up in parts.. If you what a poor video and sound all dvd and divx and what films to lock up get Yamada DVX6600.. If I could give the Yamada less then one star I would..
I am selling my Yamada ... Read More
Rating: - The player that plays it all!
Can't fault it, it has played anything I have thrown at it Divx/Xvid/MPEG/JPEG/MP3/DVD (Any region), on CD-R,CD-RW,DVD+R,DVD-R,DVD+RW,DVD-RW.
Admitedly its a bit cheap in manufacturing quality but what do you expect for around £50? The disc tray is a bit on the thin side and its not the best looker either. The remote feels cheap and light weight too.
Since I bought mine in early '04 two firmware releases have been available, the first a Beta to support subtitles in .srt format ... Read More
Rating: - Superb Service
The player is first rate, and does everything it says it can do. If you are after a DivX player, for the money, it beats them all hands down. The disk tray is a little more fragile than others, but as long as you take the same care as with any player, it should be fine. If you have a ton of AVI or movie files on your PC (excluding WMV-hey you can't have everything, besides, the quality on these tends to be pretty average anyway), or you will be downloading more movies/clips via a broadband connection in particular, ...
