Rating: - Fantastic Piece of Kit
I've had my Yakumo for about two years and I cannot sing its praises high enough.
The reason for having a multi-region dvd player is so that you can buy (mainly American) dvd's at around half the UK price and safely play them.
In this house, we have two expensive dvd recorders, which are extremely "picky" about what they will play, another "picky" dvd player in the bedroom and the Yakumo in my study.
The Yakumo will play anything!
I am looking to buy a second one to sit on ... Read More
Rating: - one of the best dvd player ive had!
i dont see why people are only scoring it 1 out of 5 just because it packed in after 1-2 years,it was only £30, i got mine 3 1/2 years ago and it stopped working about 2 months ago,the dvd tray wouldnt work anymore.but it was great while it did work,it would play any type of dvd you threw at it,i loved it.
its a shame amazon arent selling them at the moment cos i would of brought another one straight away!dont NOT buy it because of people scoring it low on how long it lasts, everything else ... Read More
Rating: - It's a good machine...so long as it works
To be fair to this machine I have had it over two years, and it wasn't until it hit the two year mark that I started having real problems with it. I would have to turn it on and off several times before it would start to load. It started taking longer and longer, until it would take me 5 minutes to get the motor going and for the machine to switch on. Today it finally gave up the ghost and refused to switch on and load. It was only £30 so the two good years I got out of it were great, but even with ... Read More
Rating: - Perhaps the worst item I've ever purchased.
It's got a real feeling of 'cheap' about it. Within a few months it stopped recognising commerical DVDs with any regularity and would only recognise ones I had burnt myself. Around the time I'd had it a year (so I couldn't really return it) it stopped recognising all DVDs. Then, one day it made this big bang and never turned on again. It was kind of funny but a total waste of cash, I'd recommend a better brand.
Rating: - At least it was cheap
I bought two of these DVDs as, at the time, Amazon was selling them for under £30.
However, a year in and one of them has packed up entirely - the other one is still going, but not without the kind of problems many other reviewers have already mentioned here: the picture sticking and freezing, the whirring, clicking noises, the badly designed remote control, the refusal to load DVD-Video format DVDs at times (in addition to a dislike of certain other DVD formats), the sudden refusal to ...
