Rating:  - Cut down too much.
Having already a Yamada 5520 dvd player (Which is excellent), I purchased this unit, as I didn't require the 5.1 sound of the 5520. It is generally OK. But I found some Disney DVD's wouldn't play, and also DVD+RW DVD's also didn't work.
I would recommend paying the extra few quid for the 5520 model.

1 year on and still going strong.
This really is an excellent little DVD player. For a start it's multi region which means cheaper import DVD from the states and a chance to get earlier releases.
It's also easy to use, reliable and looks not to bad for a cheap model. The glow in the dark buttons on the remote are also very useful when watching films with the lights off.
A highly recommended player for those who are looking for a basic model without many fancy features.

Not a bad piece of equipment - or so I thought! Came working fine, and was quite impressed with the array of features - plays VCDs MP3s and multi-region too! Then it started going pear shaped!
The remote control is overly huge and clumsy (also controls my hifi, which can prove rather frustrating!) and there's a huge bright red light on the front which I had to cover with blutack in order to sleep at night!
Now, 3 weeks or so after purchase, my DVDs skip about 4 seconds after each chapter ... Read More

i read loads of allegedly good reviews. i have also seen a fair few badreviews. what can i say, it just seems pot luck. i bought one which willplay a dvd about 1 time in 30 attempts. otherwise you get a bad disc errormessage. i guess that serves me right for being a cheapskate.
myreccomendation is give it a try. seems like if it works then it workswell. at the same time if it doesn't work when it gets to you, youshouldn't be suprised. it's 50:50.

I bought this unit as a Mother's day present and ran into the problem with playing Pirates of the Carribean and Finding Nemo.
Some of the units need a fimware update. The way to tell if you need it is to press your Setup button on the remote control. If the background to the menu is yellow you DON'T need the update. IF THE BACKGROUND IS BLUE YOU NEED THE UPDATE (http://www.yamada.de/ftp/2500zoran.zip).
